An information meeting took place in Conakry on 17 February 2022 concerning progress with the Koukoutamba dam hydropower project.
The event, chaired by the Secretary General of Guinea's Ministry of Energy, brought together OMVS officials, including the High Commissioner, as well as representatives of the technical sectors and civil society.
Participants underlined the importance of this structuring project, with an installed capacity of close to 300 megawatts, and the urgency of protecting the Senegal River in the face of climate change. The initiative forms part of OMVS's preparations for its 50th anniversary and for the 9th World Water Forum to be held in Dakar.
